Later, these students joined 50,000 others in a march to the American Embassy in Tokyo.

The invasion of Iraq has mobilized thousands of people in Tokyo.  On day one of the invasion, I happened to be on a college campus where a small group of demonstrators took to the streets. One of them carried a poster of a demonized Bush clenching a missile between his teeth. (Figure 1)

The next day, from my condo I noticed a demonstration in the park nearby (Figure 2).   These were high school students protesting the war.  There were at least a thousand students and as near as I could tell, the rally was organized and run by the students. Some of the protestors carried a poster characterizing Bush as the reincarnation of Hitler.  The sign reads, "Why do Americans kill Iraqi children?" (Figure 3).  Fig. 5, by the way, shows our condo in the background.
