Dojunkai Apartments
Omotesando, Tokyo

The beautiful, ivy covered Aoyama Apartments along Omotesando were constructed in 1927 by Dojunkai, a public body formed to build public housing following the devastating Kanto earthquake of 1923 (63 percent of the homes in Tokyo were destroyed, 140,000 people lost their lives).  Unfortunately, in March of 1993 the apartments will give way to progress and wrecking ball to make way for another upscale development.
